The stone was formed prehistorically when that part of France was still largely sea. Currently, the area is known for supplying the best Cote-D'or wines.
The original dalles with a thickness of more than 15 cm were mainly used in the medieval period for roads in the small French town of Nolay. Nolay is 15 km from Pommard. Pommard is part of the Cote-D'or region and is known for supplying wines with a world reputation.
Now cut to a thickness of 3 cm / 1.18 Inch, they can be perfectly used for floor heating.
